A diamond’s value is separate from the gold setting’s melt value. If your ring has a diamond (or multiple diamonds), do not sell it as scrap gold without first getting the diamond evaluated. A 1-carat diamond can be worth $2,000–$6,000 depending on cut, color, and clarity. Melting a ring with a significant stone to get the gold melt value would destroy far more value than it captures.
